Data Engineer (SQL & Tableau)

Location: Burbank - CA (In-office)

Duration: 3+ Months

Project: We are seeking a Data Engineer / data Analysts / Systems with a strong background in data analytics and experience supporting IT applications for a large enterprise. This role requires a skilled individual who can not only maintain and support current systems but also leverage advanced data analytics tools to enhance business reporting and decision-making processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing systems to identify improvements and to enhance existing functionality to meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with business units and IT to understand operational challenges and propose effective technology solutions.
  • Address technical questions and system issues promptly, ensuring maximal system efficiency and user satisfaction.
  • Employ ServiceNow for thorough incident management — tracking, logging, and resilient resolution of technical issues.
  • Offer substantive technical and functional expertise during the planning and implementation stages of projects.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and service providers to efficiently execute system modifications and improvements.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to thoroughly collect requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and accurate assessment of project impacts.
  • Calculate and present work efforts and associated costs for planned solutions.
  • Conduct data analysis and integration tasks employing advanced database technologies such as SQL, Snowflake, OData, and MySQL.
  • Develop and oversee the creation of dashboards and customized reports using Tableau, Power BI, and SSRS, incorporating leadership into project execution.
  • Design, implement, and manage workflows and custom forms utilizing Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate to streamline and automate business processes.
  • Possess proficiency in PowerShell scripting to automate routine tasks and streamline system operations.
  • Manage concurrent remote server environments, ensuring efficient and secure operations.
  • Provide detailed weekly status reports and keep SharePoint and Salesforce consistently up-to-date.
  • Schedule and conduct technical status meetings, offering regular updates to leadership.
  • Ensure effective issue escalation and resolution processes to maintain 100% client satisfaction.
  • Lead the creation and periodic updates of system architecture diagrams, along with comprehensive process documentation, including test cases and result reporting.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Must Have Skills:

  • SQL experience
  • 3+ years of experience; Writing queries and joins.
  • Tableau experience
  • 3+ years of experience; Dashboards.
  • Power Automate experience
  • 3+ years of experience; Building custom business solutions.

Technology requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in SQL with experience in Snowflake, OData, MySQL, and other database technologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Tableau, Power BI, and SSRS, including leading dashboard and reporting projects.
  • Experience in scripting and automation with PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate for building custom business solutions.

Years experience:

  • 3-7 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • 3-7 yeats of experience as a Data Analyst or similar support role.
